Isaiah Thomas Scores 40 Points in G League Return, Eyes NBA Comeback

Former NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas proved he still has plenty of scoring ability left in the tank, as he poured in 40 points in his return to the NBA G League on Tuesday night. Playing for the Salt Lake City Stars, Thomas displayed his trademark offensive skills, shooting 13-for-28 from the field and adding eight assists in a 122-115 loss to the Valley Suns.

The 5-foot-9 guard, who has been a standout throughout his career, was activated by the Stars and wasted no time showcasing his abilities. This performance is a testament to his readiness for another shot in the NBA, where he previously played for the Phoenix Suns during the 2023-24 season. Thomas appeared in just six games with Phoenix last season, but it was his stellar 32.5-point average in four games with the Stars that earned him that NBA opportunity.

Thomas’ impressive career in the NBA spans 12 seasons, where he played in 556 games. His most memorable year came during the 2016-17 season with the Boston Celtics, when he averaged an impressive 28.9 points per game and finished fifth in MVP voting. His performances during that stretch solidified his place as one of the top scorers in the league, and he remains hopeful for a return to the NBA.

As Thomas continues to dominate in the G League, his ultimate goal is clear: to earn another shot in the NBA. With his scoring prowess on full display, it’s evident that Isaiah Thomas still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
