Hamilton Handed ‘DIVORCE’ Verdict in F1 Split Talks as He Joins Ferrari

In a stunning shift within the F1 world, Lewis Hamilton has officially completed his move to Ferrari, marking the end of his illustrious 15-year career at Mercedes. The seven-time world champion, who has been a stalwart at the Silver Arrows, now embarks on a new chapter with Ferrari, driven by his growing frustration with recent performance struggles at Mercedes.

Hamilton’s Change of Scenery

At 40 years old, Hamilton hopes that the switch to Ferrari will reignite his championship ambitions, with a much-needed boost in performance. He will join forces with Charles Leclerc in the iconic red machinery, aiming to challenge for titles once more. Hamilton is set to make his much-anticipated debut with Ferrari at the Australian Grand Prix on March 16.

Despite his iconic status at Mercedes, Hamilton has been falling behind his rivals in recent seasons, and his move to Ferrari represents a fresh opportunity to reset his career.

Crash During Testing, But No Injury

Hamilton’s first test with Ferrari at Fiorano went smoothly, but his second outing in Barcelona didn’t go as planned. The 105-time Grand Prix winner suffered a crash but thankfully avoided injury, signaling that Hamilton may still need some time to fully adjust to his new team’s car.

Mercedes Boss Comments on Amicable Split

Hamilton left Mercedes on good terms, and in a candid chat with Sky Sports, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff described the situation as an “amicable divorce,” adding:

“It’s a little bit like you divorce amicably and it’s all good, then you see your partner for the first time with a new friend. But I’m really happy for him, and I told him that those pictures [from his Ferrari unveiling] were iconic.”

Wolff also acknowledged the effort put into Hamilton’s Ferrari unveiling, calling it “so well-curated,” a fitting tribute to the racing icon.

While Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes marks the end of a legendary era, the upcoming season holds the promise of exciting new challenges and rivalries as Hamilton seeks to find success in Ferrari’s colors.
