Alperen Sengun Injury Update: Set to Return Against Nets

Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün is listed as probable for the Rockets’ February 4 rematch against the Brooklyn Nets. Şengün, who has been sidelined with a calf strain, is poised to return after missing three games. During his absence, the Rockets have been competitive but have lost narrowly to the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks.

Impact of Şengün’s Return

Şengün, who averages 10.4 rebounds per game and boasts a 54.0% true shooting percentage, will be crucial to the Rockets’ efforts against a banged-up Brooklyn team. In their previous matchup against the Nets, Houston was out-rebounded 46 to 44 and struggled offensively, shooting just 40.0% from the field and 30.8% from three. With Şengün back, the Rockets are expected to improve in both the rebounding department and their offensive efficiency.

Current Team Status

Aside from Şengün, the Rockets will have a mostly healthy squad, with only Jock Landale, Jabari Smith Jr., and Fred VanVleet listed as out for the game. The Nets, meanwhile, are struggling, having posted a 3-7 record over their last 10 games, despite winning their last two contests.

The matchup is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET. The return of Şengün provides the Rockets with a boost as they seek to improve their performance and maintain their position in the tightly contested Western Conference.
