The Golden State Warriors have made it clear they are all-in on chasing another championship with Stephen Curry leading the way. Their blockbuster acquisition of Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat reinforced that commitment, but the work isn’t done yet.
Even though the trade deadline has passed, the Warriors’ front office still has an opportunity to strengthen the roster through the buyout market. With multiple veterans hitting free agency, Golden State is expected to pursue depth pieces to support Curry, Butler, and Draymond Green in their title push.
Reggie Jackson: The Warriors’ Next Target?
According to FanSided’s Jeremy Kruger, former Philadelphia 76ers guard Reggie Jackson is a prime candidate for Golden State.
“Jackson could be exactly what the Warriors need. Golden State has struggled this season with a lack of reliable ball-handlers outside of Stephen Curry,” Kruger wrote.
Jackson, who played a key role in the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 championship run, was recently traded to the Washington Wizards before being waived, making him free to sign with a contender.
Why Jackson Makes Sense for Golden State
At 34, Jackson is no longer the player he was when he signed a five-year, $80 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, but he remains a valuable veteran presence.
- He averaged over 10 points per game last season while playing all 82 games for a title-contending Nuggets team.
- His ability to create off the dribble and facilitate offense would ease the playmaking burden on Curry.
- He brings playoff experience and durability, two traits crucial for a team making a deep postseason run.
Will the Warriors Make the Move?
Golden State could certainly use another steady ball-handler off the bench, and Jackson fits the mold of a reliable veteran who can contribute in high-pressure moments. If the Warriors are serious about maximizing their final championship window with Curry, adding Jackson could be one of their final moves before the postseason.
