Could the Cowboys Make a Bold Move for Joey Bosa?

The Dallas Cowboys are facing a crucial offseason as they look to reload for another playoff push. With key decisions looming on both sides of the ball, the team could be in the market for a game-changing addition to their defense—and Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa might be the perfect fit.

According to FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox, Bosa is a potential trade candidate heading into the final year of his contract. If the Chargers decide to move on, the Cowboys could be a prime destination.

“Because Bosa has had injury problems, not been as destructive, and is toward the end of his career, he should be a cheap addition if the Chargers don’t focus on trading him,” Wilcox noted.

Would Dallas Move on from Lawrence or Parsons?

For a Bosa-to-Dallas scenario to truly materialize, the Cowboys might need to part ways with at least one of their star edge rushers.

  • DeMarcus Lawrence is entering the final years of his contract, and while he remains a solid contributor, his long-term future in Dallas is uncertain.
  • Micah Parsons, the team’s defensive centerpiece, has been the subject of some surprising internal discussions regarding a potential trade, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

“While there have been no trade talks, sources say there have at least been some internal discussions about whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a king’s ransom,” Pelissero reported. “I can’t imagine there’s a scenario where he’s not wearing a star on his helmet.”

While a Parsons trade seems unlikely, Dallas could still be in the market for additional pass-rush depth—especially if they move on from Lawrence.

Is Bosa Worth the Gamble?

Bosa, a five-time Pro Bowler, remains an elite talent when healthy, but injuries have hampered his impact in recent years. He signed a two-year, $40 million extension in 2024, meaning he’s under contract for just one more season before hitting free agency. If the Chargers believe they won’t retain him long-term, moving him now could make sense.

For the Cowboys, a low-cost trade for Bosa would provide a high-upside addition to an already talented defense. If he stays healthy, he could form a dominant pass-rushing duo alongside Parsons, making Dallas an even bigger threat in the NFC.

What’s Next for Dallas?

The Cowboys have some major roster decisions to make, particularly regarding how much money they want to invest in their defensive front. If the price is right, a move for Bosa could be a calculated risk with massive potential rewards.

Would Jerry Jones be willing to roll the dice on another superstar? If history is any indication, the Cowboys are never afraid to make a splash.
