The Golden State Warriors made a major splash by acquiring Jimmy Butler to pair with Stephen Curry, but their blockbuster trade came at a cost—losing valuable ball handler Dennis Schröder.
While Schröder struggled during his brief stint with Golden State after a strong start with the Brooklyn Nets, his presence added depth to the Warriors’ backcourt. Now, the team is looking for reinforcements, and a seasoned NBA champion may be available on the buyout market.
Veteran guard Reggie Jackson, who was recently waived by the Washington Wizards after being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers, has emerged as a potential target for Golden State.
“Reggie Jackson has bounced around the league a lot in recent years. So much so that he’s become a household name pertaining to the NBA trade deadline,” Brett Siegel of Clutch Points wrote.
Jackson, a 14-year NBA veteran, won a championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023 and spent another season with the team before signing with Philadelphia last summer. However, his time with the 76ers was short-lived, as he was dealt to Washington at the trade deadline and quickly waived.
With Jackson now a free agent, the Warriors have a legitimate opportunity to add a battle-tested playmaker to their roster. Over his career, the Boston College product has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Nuggets, 76ers, and Wizards.
Though his efficiency has dipped in recent years, Jackson remains a capable scorer and facilitator. He may no longer be the player who averaged 16.0 points per game in his prime with the Pistons, but his ability to handle the ball and create offense could provide valuable minutes off the bench for Golden State.
If the Warriors make their move, Reggie Jackson could soon be donning the blue and gold, adding veteran experience to their championship aspirations.
