Kevin Durant Set for Long-Awaited Return to University of Texas on February 20
Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant will make a long-anticipated return to the University of Texas when his team faces the San Antonio Spurs on February 20. This marks Durant’s first visit to his alma mater since his standout 2006-07 season with the Longhorns.
The marquee matchup will feature Durant, a multiple-time NBA champion and one of the league’s all-time leading scorers, going head-to-head with Spurs sensation Victor Wembanyama, considered one of the most dominant young stars since LeBron James.
The game will take place at the Moody Center in Austin, a facility named after Durant following his $3 million donation to the university in 2018 to support its basketball program and the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation.
During his lone season at Texas, Durant put up historic numbers, averaging 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. His dominance earned him AP and Big 12 Player of the Year honors, as well as the Naismith Trophy, making him the first freshman ever to win the prestigious award.
