LAFC Defeats Club América 2-1 in Thrilling Preseason Finale

LAFC wrapped up its 2025 preseason on a high note, securing a 2-1 victory over Liga MX giants Club América at a packed BMO Stadium on Tuesday night. Second-half goals from Denis Bouanga and Nathan Ordaz lifted the Black & Gold past the three-time reigning Mexican champions in a spirited contest.

After a scoreless first half, LAFC struck just 22 seconds into the second period when Bouanga capitalized on a defensive miscue deep in América’s territory, slotting a shot past the goalkeeper for the opening goal.

América responded with relentless pressure, forcing LAFC’s Hugo Lloris into action in the 57th minute. The veteran goalkeeper made two point-blank saves before Sergi Palencia cleared a rebound attempt off the line, preserving the lead.

Three minutes later, LAFC doubled its advantage. A perfectly executed attacking sequence saw Olivier Giroud let a Bouanga pass roll through to Ordaz, who calmly finished from close range to make it 2-0.

América found a response in the 63rd minute when Richard Sánchez pulled one back, but LAFC’s defense held firm to see out the victory.

The win serves as a confidence boost for LAFC as they shift focus to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, where they will face the Colorado Rapids in Round 1 on February 18.
