Melbourne to Host Formula 1 Season Opener in 2025
For the first time since 2019, Melbourne will once again host the season-opening race of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. Fans can expect an action-packed weekend at the iconic Albert Park Circuit from March 14 to March 16, 2025.
This year’s race is poised to be a special one with Australian drivers Oscar Piastri and Jack Doohan featuring on the grid, while Lewis Hamilton makes his highly anticipated debut for Ferrari. With a strong following in recent years, another sold-out crowd is expected, as Melbourne continues to solidify its place as one of the premier destinations on the F1 calendar.
2025 Australian Grand Prix Weekend Schedule:
The race weekend will follow the traditional format:
- Friday, March 14: Two practice sessions
- Saturday, March 15: One practice session and qualifying
- Sunday, March 16: The main race
In addition to Formula 1, the weekend will feature support races from F2, F3, Supercars, and Carrera Cup, with a full schedule to be released soon.
Ticket Availability and Prices:
Although the majority of tickets for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix have already sold out, fans can still find limited Park Pass (general admission) tickets available through the official event website. Grandstand and hospitality options were fully snapped up during the early October ticket sale. For those securing general admission, the cheapest four-day adult pass is priced at AU$309.
Race Location: Albert Park Circuit, Melbourne:
Located just south of Melbourne’s CBD, the Albert Park Circuit will again serve as the backdrop for the Australian Grand Prix. The temporary street circuit has undergone numerous renovations over the years. In 2022, seven corners were adjusted, including the removal of two corners, to improve overtaking opportunities and increase the speed of the race. Additionally, the chicane at Turns 9 and 10 was removed, further enhancing the track layout.
