Packers Eye Maxx Crosby to Bolster Defense Amid Super Bowl Push
As the NFL offseason begins, the Green Bay Packers have a clear mission—take the next step toward Super Bowl contention.
Despite an 11-6 record in 2024, the Packers struggled against top competition, going 0-5 against the Lions, Eagles, and Vikings. Their early Wild Card exit against Philadelphia exposed the team’s weaknesses, particularly on defense.
Packers’ Biggest Need: A Dominant Pass Rusher
While Jordan Love’s development remains crucial, fixing the defense is a top priority. The Packers ranked 5th in points allowed, yet they gave up an average of 30 points per game in their biggest losses.
Outside of Rashan Gary (Pro Bowl selection), no Packers defender recorded more than five sacks in 2024. To close the gap with the NFL’s elite, Green Bay must add a premier pass rusher.
Could Maxx Crosby Be the Answer?
According to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, the Packers could be a landing spot for Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro.
“Trading Maxx Crosby for a bounty of picks would be one way to expedite [the Raiders’ rebuild],” they wrote. “And Crosby might welcome the change, particularly if it’s to a playoff team where he knows people (e.g., Green Bay).”

The Road Ahead
Crosby has expressed his love for the Raiders, but with Las Vegas in rebuilding mode, a move to a contender makes sense. If Green Bay pulls off a trade, they’d instantly upgrade their defense and boost their Super Bowl aspirations for 2025.
