As the Toronto Raptors gear up for their Tuesday night showdown against the Philadelphia 76ers, the franchise has secured its newest star for the long haul. Brandon Ingram, the team’s marquee trade deadline acquisition, has officially signed a three-year contract extension worth $120 million, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option in the final year.
Despite the significant move, Raptors fans will have to wait a little longer to see Ingram in action. The 26-year-old forward is still sidelined with an ankle injury and won’t make his Toronto debut against the Sixers. His last game came on December 7 when he suited up for the New Orleans Pelicans against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ingram played just 19 minutes before exiting with an ankle sprain, an unfortunate blow as he had just returned from a previous injury that kept him out for five games.
Since then, Ingram has been recovering, missing a total of 27 games. His setback didn’t stop the Raptors from making a bold move at the 2025 trade deadline, striking a deal with the Pelicans to bring the talented forward to Toronto.
Although he has yet to step onto the court in a Raptors uniform, the front office’s decision to offer Ingram a long-term extension signals their confidence in him as a key piece for the team’s future. A specific return date remains uncertain, but Toronto is taking a patient approach to ensure their new star is fully healthy before making his much-anticipated debut.
The Raptors will take on the 76ers on Tuesday, with tip-off scheduled for 7 PM ET.
