Jimmy Butler Joins Warriors in Major Trade as Dennis Schroder Faces Unbelievable 3-Team Move

In a dramatic turn of events, six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler has completed his highly anticipated trade from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors. The 35-year-old forward, whose career had recently been marred by suspensions for behavioral issues, is now eager to start a new chapter with the Warriors, declaring that he has his “joy back.”

Butler was suspended three times by the Heat during the 2025 season for violations including “conduct detrimental to the team,” missing a flight, and walking out of practice. Despite these issues, Miami made it clear that they were open to trade offers, and after not playing since January 21, the trade finally materialized.

In exchange for Butler, the Warriors sent Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a 2025 protected first-round draft pick to the Heat. Butler, who has yet to win an NBA Championship, expressed his excitement for his new opportunity with Golden State, stating, “I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be wanted again. I’ve got a feeling I’m [going to] be back, in a big way, too.”

Butler also made it clear that winning a Championship is his top goal with the Warriors. “I would like to say that I am a winner,” he said. “I haven’t won ‘it’ but I would like to call myself a winner. I do want to win ‘it’ – it being a championship.”

Though there were rumors of Butler moving to the Phoenix Suns, the trade ultimately went through with the Warriors, where Butler has signed a two-year contract worth $111 million. He is expected to make his debut for Golden State in their upcoming game against the Chicago Bulls.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed his enthusiasm for adding Butler to the roster, praising his postseason pedigree. “He is a big-time pressure player, post-season player. So that would fit well in our locker room,” Kerr said. “We’ve got other guys who have been through the battles, been through the war.”

Butler’s move brings him alongside Warriors star Stephen Curry, who has already expressed interest in watching game footage of Butler to see how his style fits into Golden State’s dynamic. Butler, for his part, humorously acknowledged his role, saying, “We good. Pass the ball to Steph. And get out the way. Easy.”

Schroder’s Wild Ride Meanwhile, Dennis Schroder’s trade journey took an unexpected twist. Originally part of the trade package for Butler, Schroder’s day turned chaotic as he was sent to three different teams in one day.

The 31-year-old guard, who started the season with the Brooklyn Nets, was traded to the Warriors in December. However, the Butler trade saw him move to the Miami Heat, then to the Utah Jazz, and finally the Detroit Pistons — all in a single 24-hour span.

Schroder, who has been traded five times in the last 12 months, expressed his frustration with the NBA’s trade system, likening it to “modern slavery” and emphasizing that players have little control over where they end up, despite contracts. “Yeah, of course, we make a lot of money and we can feed our families, but at the end of the day if they say, ‘you’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that,” he said.

LeBron James Stuns in Lakers Win In other NBA action, LeBron James delivered a remarkable performance in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

James, at 40 years old, poured in 42 points, joining Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history to score over 40 points at the age of 40 or older. Along with his points, James grabbed 17 rebounds, dished out eight assists, and hit six three-pointers, leading the Lakers to their fourth straight win.

The Lakers’ victory kept them in the hunt for a top spot in the Western Conference, while the Warriors, now 11th, continue to face struggles despite the addition of Butler.
