Anthony Edwards Joins Team Kenny for a Revolutionary 2025 NBA All-Star Game
For the third time in his career, Anthony Edwards is headed to the NBA All-Star Game, but this year, it’s going to look a little different.
Gone are the traditional East vs. West matchups. Instead, Edwards will be suiting up for Team Kenny in a completely revamped format that promises to bring more excitement and competition to the All-Star festivities.
This year’s NBA All-Star Game will feature a four-team mini-tournament, replacing the usual conference-based format. Three teams were drafted by basketball legends Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, and Charles Barkley on TNT’s Inside the NBA. The fourth team, Team Candace, will earn its spot by winning the Castrol Rising Stars Challenge.

How the 2025 All-Star Tournament Works
This year’s All-Star Game format is a major departure from the past. Rather than the traditional East vs. West matchup, the NBA will feature a three-game mini-tournament with four teams of eight players. The teams will compete in a series of target-score games, with each round having a target of 40 points.
Here’s how it will unfold:
- Game 1: Team 1 vs. Team 2 – First team to 40 points wins.
- Game 2: Team 3 vs. Team 4 – First team to 40 points wins.
- Championship Game: The two winning teams from Game 1 and Game 2 will compete for the championship, with the first team to 40 points taking home the title.
Prize Money at Stake
The 2025 All-Star Game comes with a $1.8 million prize pool:
- Champions: Each player on the winning team will receive $125,000.
- Runner-Up: Each player on the second-place team will receive $50,000.
- Semifinalists: Players on the two eliminated teams will each receive $25,000.
