Chargers Stars Among Nominees at NFL Honors 2025
Tonight, all eyes will be on New Orleans as the NFL celebrates its brightest stars at the annual NFL Honors. The event will feature several key figures with strong ties to the Los Angeles Chargers, as former and current players earn prestigious nominations.
Chargers legend Antonio Gates has made the cut as one of the 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Gates, widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game, holds the record for the most touchdown receptions by a tight end in NFL history with 116. Over his storied career, Gates was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time Associated Press All-Pro.
In addition to Gates’ Hall of Fame bid, Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins is up for the coveted Comeback Player of the Year award. Dobbins, who was limited to just one game in 2023 due to a torn Achilles, bounced back with an impressive 2024 season. He achieved career highs in both rushing yards (905) and scrimmage yards (1,058), while also tying his personal best of nine rushing touchdowns.
Furthermore, kicker Cameron Dicker is in the running for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the community. Dicker’s dedication to giving back to others highlights the important role athletes play off the field.
