Chet Holmgren Set to Make His Long-Awaited Return to the Thunder Lineup

Chet Holmgren is ready to make his long-awaited return to the Oklahoma City Thunder lineup after a challenging injury layoff. Holmgren, who had been sidelined since November due to a fractured hip, is officially off the team’s injury report for Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors.

The 7-foot-1 center confirmed the news with a personal announcement, sharing a TikTok video on Thursday with the simple message: “I’m back.”

This marks a significant moment for the Thunder, who have been performing at an elite level despite Holmgren’s absence. With a 40-9 record entering Thursday, Oklahoma City leads the NBA and holds a commanding six-game lead over Memphis in the Western Conference standings.

The Thunder had started the season strong with an 8-2 record in the first 10 games with Holmgren but have continued to dominate, going 32-7 in the 39 games without him.

Holmgren, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, missed his entire rookie season in 2022-23 due to a foot injury, making this his first full season with the team. He had averaged 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game before his recent injury, and the Thunder are eager to integrate him back into their rotation as they push toward the playoffs.

This development is another positive for the Thunder, who have shown incredible resilience and depth this season. With Holmgren back in action, the team looks poised to strengthen their hold on the top spot in the league.
