Could Myles Garrett be the Game-Changer Patriots Need? New England Eyeing Major Trade in 2025 NFL Draft

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the New England Patriots find themselves holding the coveted No. 4 overall pick. While the team’s future direction is still uncertain, one intriguing possibility has emerged: Could the Patriots trade that high draft pick for Cleveland Browns superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett?

Recent rumors have sparked speculation about a potential trade for Garrett, who is widely regarded as one of the most dominant pass rushers in NFL history.

According to Jordy McElroy of USA Today Sports, in his latest mock draft, the Patriots are projected to trade their No. 4 pick straight up for Garrett. While giving up such a high pick is a significant move, Garrett’s impact on the field makes it an appealing proposition for New England.

At 29 years old, Garrett is at the peak of his powers and remains one of the NFL’s most feared defenders. In the 2024 season, despite battling injuries, Garrett played in all 17 games, finishing with 47 tackles, 14 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a defended pass. His ability to disrupt offenses would be a massive upgrade for a Patriots team that struggled with a consistent pass rush in 2024.

Garrett’s arrival would immediately address one of the Patriots’ biggest weaknesses, giving the defense a major boost. His presence on the field would not only elevate the pass rush but also help improve the overall defensive unit.

Additionally, with head coach Mike Vrabel leading the team, the Patriots have a strong foundation to build on, and adding Garrett could help them make a significant jump in 2025.

Even though Garrett is 29, the Patriots would be wise to make a move if this trade is available. He would make New England a much more formidable contender in the AFC.

However, the Patriots must tread carefully, as it’s not guaranteed that the Browns would accept just a No. 4 pick for Garrett. New England should avoid overpaying, but if the trade makes sense, it could be a franchise-altering move.

As the Patriots prepare for the draft, all eyes will be on whether they make a bold move to bring Garrett to New England, or if they decide to go in a different direction. Either way, the No. 4 pick has the potential to reshape the team’s future.
