Giants Eyeing Shedeur Sanders with No. 3 Pick in Mel Kiper’s Latest Mock Draft
In his debut 2025 NFL mock draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has linked the New York Giants with Shedeur Sanders, the standout quarterback from Colorado. Kiper projects that the Giants will select Sanders with the third overall pick, marking the beginning of a new era for the team at the most crucial position.
“This is the best-case scenario for the Giants,” Kiper wrote, noting that the team’s late-season win over the Indianapolis Colts pushed them to the third overall pick. While the team’s future at quarterback isn’t guaranteed, Kiper emphasized the need for New York to address one of the worst passing games in the league. With Daniel Jones departing and Drew Lock set to hit free agency, a quarterback change is crucial.
Sanders, widely regarded as one of the top two quarterback prospects in this draft class alongside Miami’s Cam Ward, has impressed with his consistency and accuracy. He completed 74% of his passes this season and could potentially step in immediately, revitalizing the Giants’ offense, including top receiver Malik Nabers, a projected 2024 first-round pick.
While Kiper speculates that the Giants could move up from the third spot to secure Sanders, he ultimately predicts that the talented quarterback will still be available when the Giants are on the clock in April.
“New York will be weighing all options, and it might ultimately be forced to trade up into the top two to get its guy,” Kiper wrote, acknowledging the importance of this decision for Giants’ GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. “Time is running out for them; they have to get this right.”
In Kiper’s mock draft, Ward is projected to go No. 1 to the Tennessee Titans, while Sanders’ teammate, versatile cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, is slated as the No. 2 pick to the Cleveland Browns.
The Giants have already begun their quarterback reset, parting ways with Daniel Jones after six seasons and setting their sights on the 2025 draft to find their new leader. Last year, the team selected wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6 after quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye were picked in the first three slots. Now, with the third pick in hand, the Giants will look to make a bold move to secure the future of their offense.
