Houston Rockets Trade for Jaden Springer in Deal with Boston

In a move aimed at strengthening their roster, the Houston Rockets have acquired guard Jaden Springer from the Boston Celtics, along with a 2030 second-round pick and a protected second-round pick in 2027. In exchange, the Rockets sent a protected second-round pick in 2031 to Boston.

Springer, standing 6-4 and weighing 216 pounds, was originally selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the 28th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after a standout freshman season at the University of Tennessee. The 22-year-old spent the first two and a half years of his career with the Sixers before being traded to the Celtics last February. He was part of the Celtics’ championship-winning team in the 2023 season.

Over his 93 career games, including four starts, Springer has posted averages of 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.7 steals per 36 minutes played. He was also named the 2022-23 NBA G League Finals MVP after leading the Delaware Blue Coats to their first-ever G League championship.

This move reflects the Rockets’ ongoing commitment to building a competitive and dynamic team with a mix of youth and experience.
