Josh Allen Shines at NFL Honors as Top Players and Coaches Receive Prestigious Awards

The 14th annual NFL Honors ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg, took place on Thursday night at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, celebrating the league’s top players, coaches, and moments of the 2024 season.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took home the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, making history as the third MVP recipient in NFL history not to be named a first-team All-Pro. Allen’s impressive performance throughout the season, including 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and a career-low six interceptions, earned him the prestigious honor.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell earned Coach of the Year recognition after leading the Vikings to a 14-3 record, far surpassing expectations and securing the NFC North title. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year for his dominant performance on the defensive line.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was honored as the Comeback Player of the Year, marking the second time in his career that he earned this accolade. On the offensive side, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was awarded Offensive Player of the Year, coming close to breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.

Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II claimed Defensive Player of the Year honors, solidifying his spot as one of the league’s top defensive playmakers. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Rams pass rusher Verse also took home the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

The ceremony also highlighted the contributions of coaches, with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, now the head coach of the Chicago Bears, receiving Assistant Coach of the Year. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Arik Armstead was honored with the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, acknowledging his impactful community work.

In other categories, Josh Allen and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase earned recognition as the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Year, while San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was honored with the Salute to Service Award. The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award also went to Josh Allen for his exemplary leadership on and off the field.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 was announced, with Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, and Sterling Sharpe earning enshrinement. Other notable awards included the Deacon Jones Sack Leader Award, which went to Trey Hendrickson, and the Jim Brown Award, which was presented to Saquon Barkley. John Hart and Bill Jacklin were also honored with the Don Shula High School Coach of the Year award.

NFL Honors showcased an unforgettable night, celebrating the achievements and dedication of the league’s best. The award winners continue to set the standard for excellence, both on and off the field.
