Kellen Moore is making a significant career move. The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator, fresh off his Super Bowl LIX victory, is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.
Sources confirmed that Saints general manager Mickey Loomis reached out to other head coaching candidates to inform them of Moore’s hiring.
After helping the Eagles secure a dominant 40-22 Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Moore will remain in New Orleans, transitioning from one championship celebration to his new leadership role. The 35-year-old Moore, who has worked in a different role every season for the past four years, is now making the leap to head coach for the first time in his NFL career.
He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys (2018-2022), Los Angeles Chargers (2023), and finally the Eagles in 2024.
Before Jalen Hurts’ spectacular three-touchdown Super Bowl MVP performance, reports indicated that Moore was set to finalize his deal with the Saints. Now, Moore will officially take over for Dennis Allen, who was dismissed following a disappointing 5-12 season in 2024.
In his lone season with the Eagles, Moore orchestrated a high-powered offense that ranked in the top eight for both points scored and total yards, including a standout performance from Saquon Barkley, who became the ninth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards.
Moore, now a Super Bowl champion, will look to revitalize a Saints franchise that has been absent from the postseason since 2021.
Meanwhile, the Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts will face the challenge of finding their fourth offensive coordinator in as many years as they prepare to defend their Super Bowl title in the 2025 season.
