Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder to 118-108 Victory in Portland, Extending NBA’s Best Record

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered an impressive 35-point performance to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 118-108 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, improving their NBA-best record to 37-8.

After suffering a surprising loss to the short-handed Dallas Mavericks earlier in the week, the Thunder bounced back in impressive fashion. Despite a late surge from Portland, who cut a 15-point deficit to just six with 2:37 left, Oklahoma City held their ground to secure the win.

Jalen Williams also contributed significantly, adding 24 points, while Isaiah Joe provided 16 points off the bench. Center Isaiah Hartenstein, returning after a five-game absence due to a calf injury, made a big impact with 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and a crucial block.

Portland fought back late, with Anfernee Simons’ three-pointer bringing them to within six points, but Oklahoma City responded with clutch plays. Hartenstein, assisted by Gilgeous-Alexander, dunked to push the lead back up, and Gilgeous-Alexander followed with a driving layup to seal the victory.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who came into the game averaging 32 points per game, also grabbed five rebounds, dished out one assist, and recorded three steals to help secure the win. Oklahoma City dominated in the paint, outscoring the Blazers 52-22, and also had a commanding 28-13 edge in second-chance points.

Deni Avdija led the Blazers with 28 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while rookie Scoot Henderson chipped in with 25 points off the bench. Toumani Camara also contributed 24 points, but Portland’s struggles continued as they extended their losing streak to 15 straight games against the Thunder.

With the victory, Oklahoma City remains atop the Western Conference, showing resilience and teamwork in the face of a determined Trail Blazers squad.
