Woman Faces Multiple Charges After Deadly Crash in Upper Marlboro
In a tragic incident that took place on July 6, three young men lost their lives in a crash in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Cori Clingman, 23, has been indicted on 13 charges in connection with the crash, which involved a high-speed collision between the Infiniti she was driving and two other vehicles. Khyree Jackson, Isaiah Hazel, and Anthony Lytton Jr., all 24 years old, were in one of the vehicles and were killed in the crash.
According to authorities, Clingman was speeding as she attempted to change lanes on Maryland Route 4 near Presidential Parkway. The Infiniti she was driving collided with a Dodge Charger carrying the three victims before hitting a Chevrolet Impala. Hazel was the driver of the Charger, with Jackson in the front passenger seat and Lytton in the back. Jackson had recently been drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in April, and the three men were former teammates from Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, where they had won a state championship in 2016.
At a news conference, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy revealed that Clingman faces multiple negligent manslaughter charges, which could carry up to 30 years in prison (10 years for each person killed). Clingman also registered a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit of .08, leading to a DUI charge. Braveboy noted that Clingman’s speeding and impaired driving contributed to the fatal crash.
The community is deeply affected by this tragic loss, and the Minnesota Vikings expressed their condolences for Jackson and his friends, sending thoughts to their families, teammates, and coaches.
